A long overdue update!

Geez, I don't know where the time has gone! Once school started this poor blog got put on the back burner, and we are determined to get this back in action. So, here are some updates on what we have been up to...

Harper is finally getting over having pneumonia for the third time! The poor girl can't seem to catch a break. She had it once when she was 11 months old and than has had it twice in the last month. After two rounds of antibiotics, she finally seems to be getting over it.

Harper is officially obsessed with shoes. She always has to be wearing shoes, and anyone that is at the house must be wearing shoes as well. She'll go as far as following me around the house with a pair of my shoes saying "Mimi! Shoes! Please?" until I put them on. It's the cutest.

Elmo has become another obsession in our house. I sometimes wish that Harper would listen to me with the same intesity that she listens to Elmo with.

I used to love playing in leaf piles when I was young, so we were excited to see what Harper thought of it. In true Harper fashion, she thought it was the greatest thing ever and dove right in. While she attempted to bury herself in the leaves and even throw some at us, I managed to get a few cute pictures.

Harper is 17 months old!

I've been doing a poor job at updating now that we are back to school! I gotta get my blogging act together!

Harper is 17 months today. It's hard to believe that she's almost a year and a half. I honestly don't know where the time has gone. It seems like all of a sudden she's not this little baby anymore, but a person with her own likes and dislikes, and someone who sure likes to say "no" a whole lot. Some of our favorite things she does now:

-She loves going by the bus garage and seeing the busses when we are in the car. When she knows there are coming up she starts counting to three until she sees them. Though she counts a little different; she just says "two" three times.

- She loves blowing kisses.

- She calls cars "beep beeps".

- If she's holding something and you tell her it's a baby she'll cradle it on her sholder and pat it and say "awww, baby baby."

- She's finally learned how to be gentle with animals with the exception of Henry our cat. He just takes the beating and doesn't care.

- She has been way more cuddly, which I have missed in the last couple of months.

I was singing in the car and turn around to see Harper plugging her ears. You know your a bad singer when your own toddler daughter doesn't want to listen to you.

Back to school.

The first week of school is coming to an end, and I'm tired already.  I never really appreciate how nice my summer was until I'm back at school, trying to convince reluctant high school students that art is really something they should appreciate.  

Harper is doing great back at daycare.  The first day when we dropped her off she said a quick "bye bye" and ran off to play with her friends; never skipping a beat.  There is such a warm, welcoming atmosphere at Paula's, I would even love to stay there all day.  It's such a reassuring feeling to know that she is so well taken care of and loved when we have to be at work.

The hose makes a great baba.

Harper's enjoying the last few days of good weather by playing with the hose.  In the beginning of the summer she wouldn't get within 5 feet of the hose or a sprinkler, now she can't get enough of it.  She kept trying to drink from it and saying "baba", too cute!

The last day of summer.

It's Labor Day, and that means it's the end of summer. We've had a great time together as a family, and I'm a little sad to have to go back to work tomorrow. Rob's been ready for weeks; his room is organized and he has a list of lessons ready to go. I, on the other hand, am having a tough time getting back into the teacher mindset. I feel like I have been nothing but a mommy for the last two and a half months, and it's hard for me to switch the gears to teacher / mommy. What's going to be even harder is acclimating myself to getting up at 5am again. ugh.

For our last day of summer festivities we went over to a friends house for a little picnic. They have a beautiful daughter MaKayla who is a few months older than Harper. They also had a neighbor come over with their 3 year old little girl. The girls had a great time playing together. Overall, it was a great day. Here's to hoping for a great school year.

Stoneybrook!

We went to Stoneybrook State Park today with Katie, aka TeTe, Grandma, and Bob-O. Stoneybrook is nice because you hike right next to the river. Harper was set to go in her little back pack carrier. She was more excited about all the dogs that were there rather than the nature.

She liked wearing TeTe's sunglasses. She's so glamorous.

We took a pit stop and let Harper play in the water. This picture was taken before I slipped and fell on my behiney. I had to hike the rest of the way with wet pants. Awesome.
